Candidate Hammons to Run For the Children of Fallen Soldiers

Unity Party 2nd Congressional District Candidate Bill Hammons will be running across portions of the Second District this weekend to raise money for the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. The Fund is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose website can be found at www.cfsrf.org.

"As the son of a career Army officer and Vietnam veteran, I've seen the long-term consequences of combat and what war can do to soldiers and their families," says Hammons. "The only 'veteran' label that applies to me is that of 'veteran long-distance runner,' but I'll be more than happy to put my running to use for veterans and their families this Saturday and Sunday, as I wait to hear back from the Secretary of State's office regarding my candidacy petition. I'll be personally donating $2 for every mile I run to the Relief Fund, and I encourage others to make a similar or greater pledge.

"After a hearty Saturday 8am breakfast at the Walnut Cafe in my hometown of Boulder, my buddies and I will be headed out to the western edge of both Eagle County and the Second District. I'll start running east through the District at around noon, and will keep running til it's time to call it a run, whenever and wherever that might be."
